Child location tracker: your kid's phone on a live map
Updated:
With Heri you see your child's location on their own phone, so there's no GPS watch or extra device to buy. See on the map where they are, get an alert when they arrive at school, practice or home, and see the way they went. Your child always knows they're sharing their location with the family.
What Heri shows you
- Family map: everyone in the family on one map. Location updates about every 5 minutes on the free plan, about every minute on Prime and every few seconds in live mode.
- Place alerts: "Nino arrived at school at 08:12", "Luka left home". One place on the free plan, all places on Prime.
- "Didn't arrive" alerts: Prime tells you if your child didn't reach a place on time or their phone has been inactive for a long time.
- Route history: today's on the free plan, the last 30 days on Prime.
- Battery: an alert when your child's phone drops below 30% and 10%.
- SOS: your child presses the button and every parent in the family gets an urgent alert with their location. Free on every plan.
How to see your child's location in 3 steps
- Install Heri on your phone and create a family group.
- On your child's phone, install Heri, choose "Child", enter the invite code and allow location access ("Always").
- Add places such as home, school and practice, and choose which ones send alerts.
Your child doesn't have a phone? Read which is better: a kids' GPS watch or a phone app. To share a location once, Google Maps and iPhone's Find My work too: how to share your location on iPhone and Android.
Privacy
Only the members of your family group can see the location, plus anyone you send a temporary link to. The Heri team can't see your family's locations, and history is deleted after 30 days. Heri is for families who agree to share their locations with each other. It is not meant for secretly tracking another person.
Frequently asked questions
How can I find out where my child is?
The most reliable way is a family location app on your child's phone, such as Heri. It updates the location automatically and tells you when your child arrives at school or home. For a one-off, your child can send you their location with Google Maps or WhatsApp.
Can I see my child's location with just their phone number?
No. A private person can't locate a phone from its number alone; only law enforcement can, with legal authority. Websites that promise this are usually scams. To see your child's location you need an app installed on their phone with their knowledge.
How accurate is the location?
Heri uses the phone's built-in location service (GPS, Wi-Fi and the mobile network). Outdoors in a city it's usually accurate to between a few metres and a few tens of metres; indoors it can be less precise.
Will it drain my child's battery?
On most phones you won't notice a difference: Heri sends small amounts of data in batches. And you get an alert before the battery runs out.
